A Once-in-a-Lifetime Encounter

Tracking gorillas through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virungas is a magical experience. Be prepared for something you’ve never felt before — seeing some of the last remaining 700 mountain gorillas on the planet is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. PNV in Rwanda is home to six habituated gorilla families, and tracking most groups through the afro-montane forest usually takes only a few hours. Some families are more elusive, however, and tracking can take a full day — especially when the trails are wet and muddy.

Proud African Safaris offers guided tracking adventures at both luxury and budget levels. Beyond the classic gorilla trek, we can build in any of the add-on experiences below to round out your Rwanda extension.
