Photo Safaris

Capture Africa's wildlife through your lens

Whether you’re a professional chasing award-winning shots of the Big Five, or a first-time traveler simply wanting to document the trip of a lifetime, our guides know how to put every photographer in the right place at the right moment. On a Proud African Safaris photo safari, the vehicle, the timing, and the route all bend around getting you the shot.

Guided by Tanzania's top photography naturalists

Our Naturalist guides average 15+ years in the field — many are former park rangers, biologists, and conservationists who worked inside Tanzania’s parks before they ever led a safari. They know how to read light, position a vehicle, and read a herd’s next move, so you’re set up for the shot before it happens.

Every vehicle is fitted with professional beanbags to steady long lenses, and our roll-back, open-top roofs let you stand for a full 360° view — no window frame, no missed angle.

What to expect on your photo safari

The Serengeti — Maasai for ‘endless plains’ — is one of the oldest ecosystems on earth, and one of the most photographed. Its short-grass savanna is broken by ancient rock outcrops called kopjes, where lions and cheetahs den with their cubs, and its seasonal wetlands and woodlands bring an extraordinary range of light and texture to every frame. Beyond the Serengeti, your guide will also lead you through Tarangire, Lake Manyara, and the Ngorongoro Crater, each offering its own rhythm of wildlife and light.

Guides who go the extra mile

During a 12-day photo safari, one guest asked for a single thing: cheetahs — as many different individuals as possible. Our Naturalist guide took it as a personal challenge, and by the end of the trip had located nearly 130 different cheetahs across a range of habitats. It’s the kind of result that comes from guides who subscribe to the ‘road-less-travelled’ philosophy — willing to go off the beaten path, deep into quieter wilderness, for encounters most safaris never find.
