Kenya

Visit Nairobi or Kenya’s National Parks and Reserves.

There are many reasons to extend your East African vacation with a trip-extension to neighboring Kenya. With just an hour’s flight from Arusha to Nairobi, you will arrive to Kenya’s capitol known as the “Green City in the Sun”. Nairobi is a prominent African City both politically and financially. Despite its strong business center it has many parks and green areas, a sporting center, and also lively music scene. Nairobi National Park, Kenya’s first National Park and a leading Rhino sanctuary, is only 7km from Nairobi.

The most famous (and most-visited) reserve in Kenya is the Masai Mara Game-Reserve, approximately 275km from Kenya’s capitol. People flock to the Masai Mara for its exceptional game-viewing of “The Big Five” (lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, buffalo) as well as to witness the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra that arrive to the Mara River in July and August.

Further south are the National Parks of Tsavo (east and west parks) and Amboseli. Tsavo East is known for its spectacular scenery (such as rivers, falls, lakes, glaciers and peaks) as well as for it’s unrivalled bird-watching (for both resident and migratory flocks). Tsavo West offers cave and geological exploration, also has terrific bird-watching, and a Rhino Sanctuary. Amboseli National Park has unrivalled views of Mt. Kilimanjaro, excellent elephant and bird-watching, and contemporary Maasai culture.
