Photography on your Tanzanian African Safari
In the Serengeti you will see and experience animal encounters like no other. We understand the importance of wanting to capture and document those extraordinary events and we will take you off the beaten-path, deep into the wilderness to do so. For the average person wanting to document their trip, a 3.0 megapixel digital camera will suffice to take photos. For better pictures with the frame mainly filled with the subject, we recommend a 10 megapixel or higher optical zoom. For those individuals more serious about photography and to get good, close-up pictures of wild animals, you will need a telephoto or zoom lens big enough to capture distant images to fill the frame with images of medium distances.
If you will be using a 35mm camera, we recommend taking twice as much film as you think you’ll need and extra batteries. If you plan to use a digital camera, bring extra batteries as well as flash/memory cards and your charger with the appropriate adapter. It is also recommended to carry your equipment in a dust-proof bag.
When taking pictures of people, please keep in mind that many of them could feel their privacy is being invaded. It is extremely important to ask them first if you may take their photograph. You may also ask your driver guide to do so as he will be very knowledgeable about the various tribes and their customs.
